De-Stressing feast part 3: Banana Lassi

Lassi, a milkshake or smoothie like drink which originated from the Punjab regions of India and Pakistan, are traditional yoghurt based shakes in either sweet or salted. It is made by blending yoghurt with water and Indian spices but you can have all sorts of variations, so I decided to make a Banana Lassi with a little twist. Feel free to experiment and have a little fun with your Lassi. This great drink ended our feast on a very good note, it did a great job pushing down the Red velvet Cupcake.

Ingredients:

1 cup chilled Greek/Plain natural yoghurt
1 cup chilled milk
2 Large bananas, sliced (put banana in freezer for some hours till it's almost frozen)
Juice of one lemon
Honey to taste
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg
Chopped nuts of your choice (goes well with almonds or peanuts)
Ice cream (this is optional but you can try it just for fun)

Preparation:

Put all ingredients in a blender except milk, honey and nuts. Blend well until combined and smooth. At this time you can add 1/2 cup milk and honey, then blend again for a minute now check if you have your desired consistency and sweetness. You can allow it to chill for a while in the fridge or you can serve it right immediately in drinking glasses with a sprinkling of nuts. For more fun I poured my Lassi over a scoop of ice cream and it was AMAZING!

This a a healthy and delicious drink and even healthier if you use low fat milk and don’t forget Banana’s are nature’s perfect food and extremely good for your body.. The added spice and nuts make you taste buds look forward to something different. Try it and let us know how much you loved it.
